Brass bookends manufacturer — cast pairs and sculptural desk objects

XANVOR is a brass bookends manufacturer in Moradabad, India, working from its own foundry and sheet-metal workshop. We make cast pairs, animal and figurative forms, abstract and architectural blocks, and the wider family of desk objects around them — for importers, gift distributors, design brands and private-label programmes.

What we make in this category

A bookend is a casting problem first: heavy enough to hold a shelf, stable on its base, safe where a hand reaches.

Cast animal and figurative bookends

Elephants, whales, birds, seahorses and other figurative forms sand cast in brass or aluminium so the pair carries real weight and holds modelled detail. A sheet-formed animal never gets the mass a working bookend needs.

Abstract, botanical and architectural forms

Wave, leaf, arch and block silhouettes in cast metal or laser-cut iron, powder-coated or antique-finished. Laser-cut work gives a graphic profile at lower weight and cost per pair, which suits a retail price point.

Desk objects around the pair

Bookends rarely ship alone. The same moulds and finishing bench produce desk organisers, card and spectacle holders, doorstops and standalone sculpture. Our WILDFORM range shows how far the cast-brass work goes.

Mixed-material pieces

Marble and stone bases, agate slices, sheesham plinths and resin inlay are combined with metal in-house, which keeps fitting tolerances under one roof.

Materials, processes and finishes

Sand casting in brass, aluminium and kansa (bronze) does most of the work here. Sheet processes — raising, spinning, planishing and hand-hammering in brass and copper — cover the lighter architectural pieces, with hand engraving (nakkashi) or acid etching for surface detail, and laser-cut ironwork for graphic profiles.

Finishes are antique gold, mirror polish, matte gold, oxidised, silver plate and powder coat, matched to your reference swatch before production so a repeat order looks like the first. Custom sizes and fitments — rescaling a shape, changing a weight, adding felt or mounting hardware — are normal work.

Development route for a custom bookend

  1. Send a drawing, photograph, moodboard or physical sample with target sizes and quantities; we return feasibility notes and a quotation.
  2. Counter-sample photographs first, then a physical sample — typically 7 to 14 days depending on complexity.
  3. You approve; size, finish, weight and packaging are frozen as the production standard.
  4. Production runs against the approved sample with in-line QC, then pre-dispatch photo and video sign-off.

Tooling, mould and pattern charges for new designs are quoted separately. The same route, in more detail, is on our OEM and ODM page.

Brass bookends — buyer questions

Do you make bookends to our own design?

Yes. Send a drawing, photograph, moodboard or physical sample with target sizes and quantities and we return feasibility notes and a quotation. On approval, size, finish, weight and packaging are frozen as the production standard.

What is the minimum order quantity?

10 pieces per design, for catalogue and custom or modified designs alike. Bookends are usually bought as pairs, so tell us whether your quantity is in pairs or singles and we will quote it the way you count it. Mixed-design orders are welcome.

Are bookends cast or made from sheet?

Both, and they behave differently. Sand casting in brass, aluminium or kansa gives a solid, heavy piece holding fine sculptural detail, which is what figurative forms need. Sheet work gives a lighter, more architectural object. We advise which route suits your shape when we quote.

Is there a tooling or mould charge?

Tooling, mould and pattern charges apply to new custom designs and are quoted separately from the unit price, so development cost and per-piece cost stay visible. Catalogue designs already in production carry no such charge; for design-stage pieces, any pattern or tooling cost is stated on the quotation.

How are bookends packed and shipped?

In foam inserts and master cartons, packed for sea and air freight — heavy cast pairs need the foam more than most categories. You receive photo and video approval before packing, and on export we issue the invoice, packing list and shipping papers.

Have a shape in mind, or a drawing to cost?

Send the drawing, photograph or sample with target sizes and quantities. You will get feasibility notes and a quotation under a reference number, within one working day.
